Outside
your home
Most
burglaries are unplanned and committed by opportunists that are after easy takings
from soft targets.
| All
Browns Security installations benefit from an attractive low profile dummy bell
box which is fixed in clear view to the outside of your house to show that your
home is secured and not an east target. |
| | We
provide you with a monitored alarm disc for
you to display inside your front door or window that states that your security
system is maintained, active and monitored. |
| | We
also provide you with a number of window stickers
that can be placed inside other ground floor windows to show that you have professionally
installed security. |
|
| | Inside
your home
About
one third of alarm systems don't get used regularly as their owners find them
to be too fiddly for this reason we have designed the system to be as easy to
use as possible.
| The
Remote Key Pad (RKP) is the part of your alarm that allows you to operate
your alarm system. With the flap open you have access to the key pad which allows
you to use your four digit pin number to set, un-set or part the system. |
| | | To
make the system as easy to use as possible we provide 4 special Keyfobs
with each installation; each fob has an electronic chip inside which, like a key,
will only work on your system. To operate the system simply hold your fob to the
window on the RKP and the system will set or un-set depending on its condition;
if you want to part set the system simply hold your fob to the window as usual
and because you don't open your entry exit door the alarm will part set the system. |
| | | You
can also use a Four Button Keyfob with the
Browns Security; this has Set and Un-set buttons as well as 2 further programmable
buttons which can be programmed up to part set the alarm and give a panic attack
activator. These units are not included in the standard configuration but can
be ordered from the installer on the day of installation. |

|
The
Detection Sensors
... | Passive
Infrared Detectors (PIRs) are installed in the corner of your rooms
to give the best security cover.
PIRs detect movement and heat sending
a warning signal to the control panel; when the alarm is set this will activate
the siren and call the monitoring station.
If you have pets we will supply
special pet immune PIRs in the place of standard units at no additional cost to
you. Pet immune PIRs will ignore pets of up to 36kg (80lbs) at ground level.
Door
Contacts are magnetically operated switches that will detect the opening
of any door or window they are fitted to. We fit a Door Contact to your normal
entry exit door and when the alarm is set you will hear a beeping to remind you
to unset the alarm as you enter |
The
fact that these detection devises are wire free makes them ideal for securing
out-buildings, sheds or even caravans that are kept within 150 metres (480 feet)
of your home. Additional Sensors can be purchased from the installing Engineer
on the day of installation. |
|
The
components not on view
| The
Browns Security & Care System has a variety of components that don't need to be
accessible, our engineers do their utmost to fit these in cupboards or under the
stairs out of sight. |
... | The
control panel contains the systems processor, back-up battery and communications
modules. This solid state unit is hardwired to the mains supply, your telephone
line, the sounder, radio receiver and to the Remote Key Pad.
The
Radio Receiver is connected directly to the Control Panel; it receives
signals and data from all of the sensors attached to your system as well as receiving
activation signals from the care pendant; set, un-set and part-set instructions
from the 4 button fobs that are available with the Browns Security Security &
Care System range.
This 103db Internal Sounder
is discretely installed in your home in a cupboard or under the stairs. When activated
the siren continues for a maximum of 15 minutes. The unit is powered from the
mains via the Control Panel but will automatically switch to the systems battery
back-up in cases of power failure. |
|
Key
& Care Holders
The
Browns Security & Care Systems all benefit from Keyholder response through our
24 hour monitoring service.
A Keyholder
is someone you nominate to act for you in your absence; say, whilst you're away
on holiday. These are normally neighbours, friends and family living not further
away than 20 minutes from your home. If the system is activated we will first
contact your home to ascertain if the system has been accidentally triggered,
don't worry if it has been, we make no charge for activations and understand that
sometimes children and grandchildren like to fiddle with things.
Careholders
are people we can call in the cases where you need personal assistance, perhaps
because of a fall or feeling unwell. Simply pressing the button on your neck pendant
sends a separate signal through to the monitoring station. The monitoring station
knows that this signal has come from your neck pendant and that you need someone
to help you. Firstly we will try and call you, this is to make sure that it hasn't
be accidentally triggered, don't worry if you can't get to the phone as by not
answering it means we automatically move to calling up your Careholders. Careholders
can be elderly neighbours who can assist you in times of personal difficulties
but perhaps not be an ideal person to act as a Keyholder where there is a remote
possibility of them finding unwanted persons in your home.
All Browns
Security & Care Systems benefit from our 24 hour professional monitoring service.
Upon activation your system will contact the monitoring station via your telephone
line giving a unique code which will identify your home and the type of activation,
the monitoring station personnel will respond as follows:
Intruder
activation
Intruder activation is caused by one or more of
your detection devises sensing the opening of a door or window or movement within
the secured areas of your home whilst the alarm system is set.
The monitoring
station will first contact your home on the number given to ascertain whether
the activation was accidental, you will be asked to give your pass word (this
will a word or phrase chosen by at the time of installation, you can change this
whenever you like), if there is no answer, an incorrect password is given or the
monitoring station believe there is cause for concern they will then call your
Keyholders in the order you requested; if there is no answer from your Keyholder
list the response will be placed on hold for a ten minute period and another attempt
made; if there is still no response after two further attempts the Browns Security
duty manager will be contacted so that further contact attempts can be made.
Care
Activation
Care activations are caused by pressing the button
on the Care activation pendant, the system will activate whether the alarm is
set or un-set.
The response is similar to the intruder activation but
can, if you choose, be a completely different list of contacts that we call care
holders.
The monitoring station will call each of your Careholders in
turn until there is a response, in exceptional circumstances and where we have
permission your doctors' surgery or 24 hour service will be called. |

| The
Browns Security & Care System is capable of supporting a variety of additional
sensors which can be either ordered at the time of sale of purchased from the
installer on the day of installation.
The system can be fitted with photoelectrical
Wire Free Smoke Detectors that will activate
the alarm system whether it is set or not, once activated the alarm will contact
the monitoring station with a separate and definable signal so that the appropriate
action can be taken.
Wire Free Flood Detectors
are designed to detect flooding from burst or leaking pipes, they are generally
be fitted behind water using services such as washing machines or immersion heaters;
the alarm will be activated whether it is set or not as soon as water reaches
the sensor. Again this will notify the monitoring station to ensure that action
is being taken.
With the simple addition of an Care activation pendant
your security system becomes a Care system; if the button on the pendant is pushed
the alarm will immediately be activated sending a care signal to the monitoring
centre whether the system is set or un-set. The monitoring station will contact
you, your careholders, your Keyholders or in some circumstances your doctor. This
facility is especially useful for elderly or infirm persons at home alone. |
